Practical Tips to Overcoming Exhaustion, Fear & Anxiety – Printables

Nothing missing, nothing broken – that’s what we would all like our lives to look like, but did you know that’s the true definition of Shalom?   This sounds to me like overcoming.

That we can prosper Spirit, Soul and Body.

I heard of a testimony recently where a mother asked a preacher to pray for her autistic daughter and as he did, he released Shalom over her and when the  mother went home they began to notice significant changes in the daughter until within a year she was completely healed.     I knew that shalom was being whole, but I didn’t know that shalom also means the Spirit that breaks chaos.

Scriptures like:

Jesus says in John 16:33  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

The Scripture, He has given us abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness so that we may reign in life” Romans 5:17

and

This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  1 John 5:4

Have always captured my attention.

We are supposed to have a destiny where we are overcoming, but so often it sure doesn’t feel that way.

So often it’s easy to feel STUCK.   Stuck in your house, with your health, or in your blog, ministry, relationships or even as a missionary to your own neighbourhood. God’s really been challenging me to STOP thinking that and brought this Scripture to mind.

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

So we know that God has given us everything we need to overcome, but how do we translate that into every day life?

Seeing the Manifestation of our Promise

In the past I’ve shared how we used the example of a coconut when we were teaching in Papua New Guinea to explain the spirit, soul, body connection.  If a coconut gets cut, the whole thing, husk, meat and milk is affected, and how likewise, when something  happens to us, our body, soul and spirit are affected.

Often things affect us from the outside in.

God wants us to live from the inside out; and we know that, we sing that.

‘Consume me from the inside out’ and ‘the same power that conquered the grave lives in me, lives in me.’

I struggled with the question, how can we have that same power inside of us, and be sick, or anxious?

We also sometimes sing, renew my mind.

BUT:  There are actually two things that God has not promised to do for us: to renew our mind and to study to show ourselves approved.

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Romans 12:2

That word transformed is also metamorphisis like a caterpillar or tadpole transforming into a butterfly or frog. Supernatural. Nothing like what it was.   That’s what God’s Word does for us.

I’ve heard it referred to as effortless change.

Kenneth Hagin used to have his new mentees go through the Bible with a highlighter and highlight every time they saw the phrase in Christ, to realise how much God has given us in Christ.

The Bible says in

2 Corinthians 5:17 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

As we focus on every good thing that we have been given as a promise from God, it renews our mind.

Often times as a Christian we think we know the truth, and it’s true to some degree, but are we walking in the fluency of it?

If I ask my daughter if she can read, she will tell me that she can.   It’s true she knows some sight words, but in order to keep her growing in the reality that she can read and help her become more fluent, we need to go over those sight words everyday, and slowly add more.

We don’t stop learning to read just because she might struggle through a book because I know as her teacher that the more she does it the easier it will get and that one day she will pick up a book and will fluently read it and the whole world will be opened up to her.

As we read and are diligent to study to show ourselves approved suddenly the fluency of our faith  opens up the world of divine health and miracles.

When I was struggling with a lot of lies about the future, God said to me, ‘Fill your mind with My truth.’

I’m like duh, I know Your Truth.    Obviously I knew enough truth to realise they were lies, but not enough truth for them to be laughable and stop bothering me.    I had to go back to basics and write out a lot of Scripture.

Andrew Wommack has a fantastic book and FREE YouTube teaching series on the topic of Spirit, Soul and Body and renewing of the mind.

I see some Christians who know about the reality of miracles and that God heals, but haven’t seen it manifest in their own life become disappointed and guarded instead of realising, that the more we hear about everything God has given us, the more it manifests for us.

We get discouraged if we hear once and we don’t see a miracle, but sometimes that is just like planting a seed and then we water it with more Word and it starts to grow in us.

Many of the people I’ve heard of with substantial issues that the medical field had given up on, they just started listening, deliberately listening to testimonies of others who had been healed for hours and hours a day and their miracle manifested; it’s the renewing of the mind.

The phrase ‘as you eat the promises of God, they become part of you and begin to manifest’ settled into my heart one time, and so much Scripture supports it.

When I was sick with quite a severe chest infection during my third pregnancy, I KNEW God wanted me well, and I would often have prayer from others and it would shift a bit, enough for me to go out for half a day, and then collapse back in bed. I wasn’t putting on weight and the midwife was quite worried.  One night after listening to a sermon about healing being the children’s bread, I woke up twice smelling toast cooking in the room, which had never happened before.

It would shift and come back.  One day in frustration I found a testimony of a lady who, along with her daughter had life threatening asthma.  She too was having the issue of it shifting but coming back, but she just kept listening to testimonies of God healing and one day it left and never came back and she did not need her meds any longer.  Every time the asthma and coughing symptoms would start I would put on that testimony and within a week the chest infection had gone properly.

Healing, deliverance, salvation was all done for us at the cross.

The Word says, ‘By His stripes you were healed.’ 1 Peter 2:24

I’ve heard some amazing testimonies of people who when they hear that truth, and that their healing is not for some pre appointed time in the future, get instantly, dramatically healed.

And I’ve also had times where I’ve had to water that truth and start thanking God that contrary to what  my circumstance says, I am healed, and as I continue to hear His Word on the matter, my symptoms leave.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7

I heard the other day a testimony of a lady who was suffering from migraines and God told her to stand on this Scripture for her healing and gradually as His Word became bigger than her circumstances her migraines went away.

Sometimes people say to me, but God hasn’t told me anything more to do about my situation, and my answer usually is, well what Scriptures are you feeding on in relation to it?

I was actually praying for direction for a friend who had asked me for prayer asking God to speak to me and as I walked down the street my eyes were drawn to a child’s t-shirt with a picture of the world, as a basketball and the Nike slogan JUST DO IT.

It made me think: you are never going to regret getting in the Word of God, it is your door way to the ends of the earth, to the world of miracles, to see either provision or health manifested so that you can follow the dreams that GOD GAVE YOU, and if you’re going to be travelling to the ends of the earths, you NEED to be in the Word anyway, so start the good habit.

SPEAK THE PROMISES

We need to speak out God’s promises over our lives.

Someone once made a very negative comment to me, about me after a long hard health journey where I was feeling very emotionally fragile, and to be honest they should have known better than to say what they did, but instantly this phrase flashed into my brain, dropped into my spirit.  It wasn’t audible but it was crystal clear.

Are words of life, stronger than words of death?

It was my job to choose. To choose to align myself with God’s words of life in His Word, rather than a doctor’s negative reports or anything else anybody else had said.

I remember talking to someone once about the importance of our words, after sharing some of the below stories with her and she was like, ‘really?  Words can have that much power, really? I just don’t get it.”

And yet God says our Words do have that much power, they are like a bridle that steers our life, the rudder of a boat, a flame that sparks a forest.

One of the Scripture verses Mum had us memorise as children was, ‘Our tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat it’s fruit.’  Proverbs 18:21

I listened to a woman who had been in a mental asylum and taken every med prescribed to her, and not seen much difference decide that she was going to say what the Bible said about herself.  She started speaking out that she had wise friends, that she had a spirit of love and not fear even though she thought it sounded silly and gradually her life began to come into alignment with that.

Peggy Joyce Ruth who wrote the Psalm 91 Book, had a very similar testimony of living in fear and enduring many shock treatments and God showed her to begin speaking out His promises from Psalm 91 over her life and it completely changed her life.   The very second verse of Psalm 91 says, “I will SAY of the Lord, He is my refuge, my fortress, my God, in Whom I trust!”

Peggy Joyce Ruth has a fantastic website, Instagram page, podcast, YouTube Channel and I have also interviewed her here on this blog.

Sometimes we need a Scripture at our finger tips on a topic, and a quick reminder of something natural that could help, while we keep praying and working on renewing our minds.

So let’s start declaring truth. Maybe we need to be declaring the fruit of the Spirit instead of frustration, maybe we need to be declare that we will rise up on wings like eagles and run and not grow weary instead of saying how tired we are. That one’s been my lifeline after three weeks of varying degrees of insomnia.

During my last pregnancy, I was so unusually tired, to the point where I couldn’t write, and needed  to sleep during the day and still fall into bed at 7pm.  Along with the practical advice to take an iron supplement, God directed me to that same Scripture, ‘that we can run and not be weary, walk and not be faint.’  As I began declaring this Word over my body, I was refreshed with energy to do the tasks He’d set before me.

I really learnt the power of our words to change our situation, and I wrote these cards out of that, as I started to counter my situation with the power of God’s Word.

To help me and to help you I’ve made these 6 little cards, that you could print out and laminate, chop up as bookmarks or anything. I’d love to see what you do with them.

But I don’t offer these cards as a little  Miss Smarty Pants, ‘here do this and everything will be ok’.     These cards are one of the steps to overcoming.

And these Scriptures are the mere beginning of the treasure trove in God’s Word.   If you need to build a stronghold in your mind to counter anxiety, type Scriptures for anxiety into Google and just start writing them down, day by day.

One day a new friend said to me that in the past she had been very afraid of the dark because of the arguments that her parents had had growing up and how intense they would become in her teen years.

She told me that she had simply memorised and spoke out Scriptures of truth to displace the fear and then had a dream where she had cut the head of the enemy off with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God and could turn the lights off at night and no longer be afraid.

Margaret Court’s book, Train Your Brain is a fantastic resource on building Scriptural strongholds in our lives.

She shares about many pills that she was on for depression and as she began digging into the Word of God on those topics, it literally transformed her life, and how she was healed over time of a torn heart valve through writing out Scriptures and imagining herself healed as God said she was.

I hope this has given you multiple resources to continue on the overcoming journey that God has you on, realising that you are more than a conqueror.
