Flicking through a journal…Scriptures with the word delight stand out that I had written a few years ago. Then that night I go to a lady’s night, first time all year and the lady opens with Psalm 18…stopping around verse 19.
He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.
The night went on, a doctor was speaking who specialized in palliative care and domestic violence sharing story after story of people coming to know Jesus because she was kind to them. Not immediately, after time, after love. Her motto, never ever give up on people. One lady got healed of a massive tumor in her office as the Holy Spirit came. At her baptism, 50 others got saved. A revival going on that none of us knew about.

Lisa Bevere’s comment from a book earlier that day, ‘if we are bored with the concept that Jesus loves us, we don’t really understand it.’
The lady ending the night also had felt God prompt her to share Psalm 18 earlier that day.
It helped me to see others in a different light. People who were annoying me, God how do you see them, how do you delight in them?
We know God loves us, but this delighting in us? It seems a little extra. Extra enough to lead me on a study through the delight Scriptures. And I turn on a song to start writing and it’s Kari Jobe, singing the delight of the Father in the song Rest. It was the first thing to come up in the worship feed.
Perhaps the most well known delight Scripture is, ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.’ Psalm 37:4
But so many of the others are about God delighting in us.
It’s similar to Scriptures of God’s right hand where He has to constantly rescue us. Just reading it can make you feel exhausted with yourself, and then you see the bit where it says in Psalm 60:5 – That your beloved may be delivered, and that His gentleness makes a us great. Psalm 18:35
Let’s explore these Scriptures of what we are called to delight in and even more so, what God delights in.

I read an Instagram post today where it talks about how sitting in God’s presence helps co-regulate our nervous systems.
I pray this 2 Page Free Printable of Delight Scriptures, with the sweet blue and white print, bring a little extra peace and joy to your day.
