I woke up last night breathing hard, and citing the name of Jesus. (The Name of Jesus that calms, and saves and keeps us safe, and there’s a little revival going on in my heart around the Name of Jesus)
A nightmare or profound dream, I wasn’t sure, but a reality many Christians live through daily. Expecting a knock at the door to rip out of their hands precious words about God, books or hymns. At best being severely admonished and at worst, tortured or killed.
And in my dream I was blinded so I couldn’t read the words anymore, and my life became not about what I could accomplish but the WHO, the reason why it had happened. The WHO that I was now spending hours a day listening to instead of just reading about.
It was a life that was slowed down, and many around the world are. They hadn’t planned probably on being persecuted, but as we dig deeper into the WHO, it’s not the what that matters, but the who they reach.
And God sometimes slows us down to reach the who that we rush by with our busy accomplishing schedule. The race to be efficient and effective in all we do.
As we spend more time in the WHO instead of the what, the love flows out of us to reach more, and it’s something I’m not good at doing, other than this space, telling those around me about the WHO.
Yes! “God sometimes slows us down to reach the who that we rush by with our busy accomplishing schedule.” I really appreciated this. It’s so true that in our fast paced society, we can easily become distracted and miss the Lord even in the midst of doing things “for” Him. Thank you for the reminder!
