14 Scriptures on God’s Power – Free Printable

The power of God is an undisputable force.

There are so many Psalms and even many Scriptures in Job, that put the power of God into perspective.

Earlier this year I felt to look into these Scriptures and gather up into a printable the ones that stood out to me. As I did so, I began to see that while there were many Scriptures talking about God’s power, there were also many talking about the power that God has given us.

Almost an oxymoron or maybe a synergism?

Let’s go back 5 years ago to when I was quite sick and not able to eat many foods and losing weight rapidly. One night I was lying in bed and I had been reading encouraging prophetic words by Lana Vawser and Nate Johnston about what God was calling people into in the future.

It’s easy to look at words like that when you are sick, and say how God? That can’t happen while I’m sick. Instead he prompted me to read them and say out loud after each one, “I agree with the words of the prophets.” The phrase kinda just came to me.

I fell asleep while doing this and had a very brief dream.

In my dream I was very sick and I was lying in a hospital bed being wheeled by a nurse down a hallway and into another room where there was an IV and another nurse said ‘quickly release the synergism.’

I woke up and it felt like a lightning bolt went through the room.

I had never heard the  word synergism so I immediately got up and found it on my phone dictionary, freedictionary.com

syn•er•gism (ˈsɪn ərˌdʒɪz əm, sɪˈnɜr dʒɪz-) n. 1. the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions, etc. 2. the joint action of agents, as drugs, that when taken together increase each other’s effectiveness

I later found a second definition from Wikipedia which I believe is just as valid:

In Christian theologysynergism is the position of those who hold that salvation involves some form of cooperation between divine grace and human freedom.

I had been listening to teaching of how God’s will is to heal and yet in many ways continuing to imagine myself sick, instead of imagining myself doing the things I knew that God had put into my heart to do.

So then a synergism would be listening to Scriptures/ teaching about God’s will for health and also imagining myself well.

Another synergism would be grace and faith. God has made everything we need available by grace, through faith.

Salvation is available to all by grace. Yet it is through our faith, our simple belief and confession that it begins to manifest itself in our lives.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We can also see from power Scriptures that God is powerful and He not only gives power to us, but He wants to work His power through us, always remembering that it came from Him.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Matthew 10:Heal the sick, [a]cleanse the lepers, [b]raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power/ authority is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It is interesting this concept of authority. When you are under authority, it is like you are a policeman with the head chief being Jesus. It is our job to literally do as Jesus said, use the power He has given us and pray for the sick to be healed, cleanse the lepers and raise the dead. He has given us authority over all the works of the enemy. People come to the police for help to enforce law and order, and people should be coming to Christians for God’s power to be released.

We see this with the centurion. He said for I too am a man under authority, I say come and they come, I say go and they go, only speak a word and my servant shall be made well.

He understood this Kingdom principle and Jesus marveled at his faith.

We can also see from Proverbs, that one of the ways God has given us to release His power, is through out tongue and the words we speak to others and over ourselves. The power of life and death is in the tongue. Our tongue is like a rudder that steers out lives. James 3:4-5

So often in the apostolic prayers, Paul is praying for us to remember what we have been given, more so than praying for something new.

Ephesians 1:18-22 …..I pray that the eyes of
your understanding being enlightened; that you
may know what is the hope of His calling, what
are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in
the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness
of His power toward us who believe, according
to the working of His power
20 which He worked
in Christ when He raised Him from the dead
and seated Him at His right hand in the
heavenly places

2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit
God gave us does not make us
timid, but gives us power, love
and self-discipline/ sound mind.

It is as we choose the self-discipline of staying in God’s Word and choosing to walk in His paths despite temptation, that a sound mind is cultivated.

I’ve also shared a story before of a lady who was having many migraines and God brought to her rememberance, the above Scripture and prompted her to speak it over herself, and as she began to do that, her migraines happened less and less frequently until they left.

While I’m sure all of us are aware that we can have negative strongholds in our lives and minds, we can pull these down and replace them with good strongholds, the Word of God.

Romans 15:13 May the God of
hope fill you with all joy and
peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

What is it that we are believing? Yes in salvation but also in the promises of God to us, that we have love and power and a sound mind, that He is our healer.

God said He would keep in perfect peace those who stayed their mind/imagination on Him. Isaiah 26:3

A very helpful story

While there are some kinds of power that are mighty and moving even in nature like waves in the ocean or a powerful waterfall, and these could be likened to the Holy Spirit’s power moving in healing and signs and wonders, there is power in our world like a strong tree or a column of a building that is powerful in another way, standing strong and unmoving, supporting other wildlife in the case of the tree, or supporting a building in the case of a column.

God’s Word is a pillar of society. It literally holds together society and healthy families. When you pull down these pillars we are left with lawlessness and a complete break down of the family structure.

I was drawn to these pillars for this printable because we need to have a stronghold in our minds of God’s power and be able to move in that power that he has also delegated to us.

Wonderful imagery of our authority in Christ can be found in Col 2:15

15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

This public spectacle was something a conquering king would do to his enemies, he would cut off their toes and their thumbs and march them naked through the streets with incense, beckoning the people to come and see that their enemy could no longer hurt them.

THE MESSAGE:

15 He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

We need to keep before us Scriptures like,

Greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Romans 3:37 NIV

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
&
New Living Translation
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

This is truly speaking of God’s great power.

A wonderful teaching series on this would be The Authority of the Believer
