The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens, they had no light.
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
What fills a void?
I was listening to a sermon a few weeks ago that greatly piqued my curiosity to the point where I went back and took detailed, nearly word for word notes.
This sermon was by Hayley Braun called Taking Shape to God’s Voice, available on spotify and I want to share those notes here.
In chaos, God didn’t actually declare peace, He created. The opposite of chaos can be God’s voice creating, and from that place in alignment with design, peace comes.
Sounds and frequency affect natural material. There was a guy in the 1700s Earnst Cladney who went out to prove that pressure derived from sound waves affect physical matter. He created a little plat that was connected to frequency and he sprinkled sand on top of it. As they would play frequency and sound through the plate the sand would start to jump and when the frequency matched the frequency of materials that built the plate they would move into a shape.
Depending on the frequency the sand would move into all different shapes. There was a Russioan scientist who had a dream and God told him how to order the periodic table. IN 2014 some scientists discovered that all that atoms in the periodic table have their own sound.
We are all made up of atoms, atoms in the right order arranged in the right way make molecules and molecules make organisms.
In Genesis 1, v2 now the earth was chaos and waste and darkness was on the surface of the deep and God said let there be light.
Perhaps all of a sudden the frequency of God’s voice matched what was in these atoms and they moved into arrangement to create light. Still today scientists do not know how atoms follow the same order to make molecules to follow the same order to make organisms that we continue to reproduce after ourselves. The infinite possibility of those atoms and what they could create by rearranging themselves could leave this world in chaos. But I would propose to you there was a sound issued in Genesis 1:1 that’s still being issued today to keep us walking in God’s perfect design.
Just as we can see that God’s voice originally filled the void, when we have a chaotic void in our lives, God’s Word, that still carries great power can come and create order out of chaos. As we begin to align our thoughts with His thoughts, it brings peace and life, and we can speak His words of life out over our life when we see chaos, because we know that Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
When I cried out to God one day saying “God I’m so tired of these lies,” His response was profoundly simple. “Fill Your mind with My truth.”
Grace and peace are multiplied to us through the knowledge of God and Jesus. As we begin to study His character, the grace comes to see change in our lives, and the peace comes.
We are transformed by the renewing of our minds, and I thought this little excerpt was an interesting way of looking at this.
Unleashing the Healing Power of Positive Emotions – Charity Virkler
In the spirit world, the perfection is already completed. It endures even while we are in the process of working out our salvation, (Phil 2:12-13) If I acknowledge the following 12 things as already completed and finished and speak them forth as my personal present tense, positive reality, I write them on my heart. This allows me to experience these truths.
(The following 12 things are truths of Who We are in Christ, eg Accepted, a Child of God, A temple of the Holy Spirit.)
I have my own list over here of all Christ has provided… our generous portion if you will.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.… 2Peter 1:3-4
Written for Five Minute Friday word prompt: VOID
Oh, the periodic table,
horror of my high-school days,
for my brain was never able
to discern the means and ways
that electrons built themselves in orbits
(are they particle, or wave?),
and there’s rows that have no good fits
and thus ambition found a grave,
for each new doctor clearly must
quote, to his patients, chemistry.
Professors say it’s only just,
but that’s not how it seems to me,
and I was from the outset barred
from role in which I might have starred.
Interesting article.
Thanks for sharing your sermon notes.
